Caithness and North Sutherland is a haven for creative people with many expressing how much Inspiration can be drawn from our landscape, history and our people.

Informal meetings for bakers in Caithness to get together and chat over homemade bakes! Caithness Baking Club is a social group welcoming people of all ages to join in and share experiences and recipes. They use lots of delicious local produce in their bakes too!
Caithness Quilters meet regularly in Pulteneytown Parish Church and aim to promote and encourage the practice and techniques of patchwork and quilting.
Caithness Writers is a group of enthusiasts sharing a passion for the written word.
Members include both published writers and novices who meet twice a month at the Nethercliff Hotel in Wick.
Meetings are led by members or by an invited speaker, an expert in their field.
Membership is open to everyone over sixteen – all that is needed is an enthusiasm for creative writing and a lively curiosity, or just a desire to mix with like-minded folk.
Messy Nessy Play Centre is in Thurso town centre. The centre offers soft play and creative activities for families and people of all ages. In the evenings, they run adult craft sessions in a range of different activities which are popular with many and offer a social space to be creative and enjoy a chat with coffee and cake.
The North Highland Woodturners Association is based in the village of Castletown in Castlehill Heritage Centre and has an active membership. They meet regularly to learn from one another and to socialise.
The group host demonstrations and an annual competition and some sell their wares at local craft markets or display their work at local art exhibitions.
